Kruger National Park & Surrounds

Where nearly 2 million hectares of unrivaled diversity of life forms fuses with historical and archaeological sights – this is real Africa. All of Africa’s iconic safari species – elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, hippo and zebra – share the bushveld with a supporting cast of 137 other mammals and over 500 varieties of bird. Mountains, bush plains and tropical forests are all part of the landscape. The parks surface area spans 19633 km² as many of the surrounding private reserves have removed their fences, allowing wildlife to roam freely between reserves. Guests can access the Park by self-drive, fly-in or by Private transfer from KMIA or Hoedspruit Airport – depending on the location of the lodge. The Kruger is a Malaria zone and precautions are recommended.

One of the country’s most scenic self-drives, the Panorama Route, explores the Mpumalanga highlands, or the north-eastern section of the Great Escarpment of the Drakensberg. Graskop is the highlight of the Panorama Route, with attractions like God’s Window, Lisbon Falls, Berlin Falls, the Pinnacle Bourke`s Luck Potholes, and Blyde River Canyon (3rd largest canyon in the World). Hazyview makes a good overnight stay in the region.
